new OSLON® Optimal LED
Recently, ams Osram announced the launch of a new horticultural lighting OSLON® Optimal LED product family, which is based on the latest ams Osram 1mm² chip, which is efficient, reliable, and cost-effective.
At present, the new OSLON® Optimal LED has released two products of deep red (Hyper Red, 660nm) and far red (Far Red, 730nm), and is expected to be deep blue (Deep Blue, 450nm) and plant white (Horti White) Products will be available in the third quarter of 2022.
According to reports, the OSLON® Optimal LED series is only 3.0mm x 3.0mm in size and is especially suitable for plant lighting equipment in vertical farms and high-density greenhouses, which usually require intensive use of LEDs.
For these applications, a balance between efficiency (photosynthetic photon flux per watt, PPF/W) and low cost (photosynthetic photon flux per dollar, PPF/$) is critical.
In addition to being cost-effective, OSLON® Optimal LEDs offer excellent stability, high reliability and excellent lifetime.
The new products are based on the same advanced InGaAlP thin-film chip technology used in the OSLON® Square 2mm² chip LED product line, leading the market for high-performance horticultural lighting LEDs.
This technology enables OSLON® Optimal LEDs to handle high drive currents and high operating temperatures, minimizing photon flux decay and maintaining excellent operating life. The product is packaged in 3030 high-power ceramics, which have strong corrosion resistance and can effectively resist the harsh crop environment.
In addition, the OSLON® Optimal LED features a new, larger spherical lens that generates a wide 120° viewing threshold, providing even light to the crop and avoiding light-concentrating under the luminaire to create a “hot spot”.
According to Renil P. Singh, Director of Portfolio Management at Osram at ams, the new product family offers higher PPF/$ and PPF/W than OSLON® SSL Horticulture LEDs, while pads are compatible with the OSLON® SSL and OSLON® Square LED series are compatible.
